Senior Observability Engineer Cloud Engineering Hitachi DS

Hitachi fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity is of utmost importance. I feel respected and valued for my contributions.

My career journey

I have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rajasthan Technical University. I got my first job with Larsen & Toubro, where I worked on some real-world projects and solidified my passion for software development.
After that I took a sabbatical of 12 long years and embraced the best days of motherhood. To keep pace with the rapidly evolving technologies, I upskilled and earned certifications in cloud computing, attended a few tech conferences, and built a strong network with industry professionals.
I then decided to knock on the door of the IT industry again and landed a stint with VMware in cloud technology.

Now I am a Senior Observability Engineer at Hitachi Digital Services, where I am responsible for optimized system performance, reliability, and bridging the gap between data producers and data consumers.

First few months at Hitachi

The first 6 months at Hitachi for me were a bit challenging but exciting at the same time. It was a mix of lot of learning and adapting; I believe this applies to any new job.

What kept me going was my growth mindset. I was also engaging daily with a very collaborative team. I had an amazing experience building relationships and camaraderie with my colleagues. This is where the Hitachi Spirit helped us a lot, the organization supports us with a balanced work-life, and a flexible working environment, which helps us to put our best efforts at work and spend quality time with family.

Embracing change and delivering success

My passion for technology and adaptability to change have been key to my career growth. I thrive on solving complex problems and continuous learning.
I’ve gained a lot of knowledge during my sabbatical – motherhood taught me perseverance, made me better at time management and pushed my will to learn more. And now I successfully apply these lessons at work.

From my experience, I believe that with a positive mindset, any women on a career break can make a comeback with flying colours.

A lot of what I and my team does directly impacts the client expectations. We proactively identify and resolve performance issues in minimum MTTR, thereby saving huge costs for them and maintaining healthy infrastructure. Our work aligns with organisation’s goals with delivering high-quality services that ensures business success and growth.

One achievement that I cherish

My journey has been a blend of passion, practical experience, networking, and a genuine love for technology, leading me to receive Women Restarter Award and AWS SheDares Star award in recognising my remarkable comeback. This increased my hunger to thrive for best performance and make a positive impact.
