Resilience and adaptability are key to our growth

Meet Prin Nongnual, Country Head, Thailand, Hitachi Digital Services

  • Spearheads the business in the region
  • A seasoned sales professional
  • An empowering team leader

I have been with Hitachi for over 10 years in various roles, such as project management, presales, and now sales. Overall, I have more than 20 years of experience in technology solutions and consulting services, including project management, business development, sales and partnership management across various industries.

Shaping Hitachi Digital Services in Thailand

As the country leader, I oversee the strategy and growth of business in Thailand, working closely with regional leadership and the delivery center team. I am also leading and strengthening the local teams to ensure client success.
I work out of our Bangkok office and focus a lot on building and nurturing our presence in the region. My other key priorities are leading the sales team to win deals but also guiding the delivery team and back-office operations.

Importance of our operations for HDS

By focusing on sales and business development, I work towards ensuring a healthy revenue pipeline and profitability for our organisation. In today’s competitive markets, where there are numerous internal and external challenges, it is critical to secure continuous business and win deals. We need to be resilient and adaptable to both customer and market needs.

Thailand provides a unique offering to our global operations. We work with clients and HDS teams across countries such as US, Vietnam, India, and Japan. Though the workforce is predominantly Thai, we benefit from a diverse mix of expatriates from Vietnam, India, and the Philippines who provide a great advantage to our work culture as well as technical skill sets. Thailand, and Bangkok in particular, is emerging as a tech hub of Southeast Asia and thus we, at Hitachi, are focused on making the most of this opportunity to serve local needs as well as global demand.

Our teams work on cloud migration, digital modernization and advanced analytics projects, thus offering various career paths to professionals – from operational excellence, agile delivery to transformation projects for our clients.

My leadership style

I believe in leading by example and empowering teams to demonstrate their capabilities. I focus on fostering a logical and clear understanding of our goals, while also building confidence in my team members. It’s important that we always do the right things and speak up if something is wrong or there’s a gap in execution, regardless of how junior or new someone is to the team.

It’s quite common for young professionals to budge under the pressure during crisis or difficult times. As a leader, it’s my responsibility to instil confidence as part of the culture. My top advice for anyone considering a career at HDS Thailand would be to have resilience and adaptability to change, especially as we’re in the IT industry.

My Hitachi memories and life outside work

Winning the largest deal ever in Thailand during my third year at Hitachi was a truly special achievement. It was an SAP implementation project, and by the end of that year, we had expanded our SAP team to 100 members.

I was born in Phuket and spent my early days with my family and relatives in a so-called garden home. My childhood was filled with many great memories of beach outings and picnics. Though I hold those days dear, I’ve also built a life and home here in Bangkok.

Being in a sales role, I am able to utilise Hitachi’s WFH policy and work flexible hours. Our flexible working policy is open to anyone, provided the role permits. Beside work, I enjoy playing golf with friends, biking with my kids in the evenings, and taking short holiday trips during the year.
