As President of Hitachi Digital and Executive Chairman of Hitachi Digital Services, Gajen will lead the orchestration of the collective domain expertise and digital capabilities of group companies, including Hitachi Digital Services, Hitachi Vantara, and GlobalLogic. He will focus on accelerating synergy creation and One Hitachi value generation across operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) to help clients transform their business and operations and navigate the complexities associated with rapidly evolving technologies, markets, and industries.

Since joining Hitachi Vantara as CEO in July 2020, Gajen navigated unprecedented challenges, including a global pandemic as well as geopolitical and macroeconomic headwinds, while driving significant business transformation. Under his stewardship, the company has innovated and introduced a host of digital infrastructure, software, and service offerings designed to address ever-changing business challenges and emerging technologies. He is an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion and is committed to helping customers leverage technology to address the world’s most pressing societal issues.

Prior to joining Hitachi Vantara, Gajen built winning IT businesses within multinational corporations and startups for more than two decades. During his 15 years with Cognizant, he helped grow the company from $368 million in annual revenues to more than $16 billion. From 2015 to 2019, he was president of Cognizant’s multi-billion-dollar Digital Business, a role in which he led the acquisitions of software engineering company Softvision, marketing solutions provider Netcentric, and Idea Couture, a digital innovation and technology services company. He also led a Cognizant-wide initiative to transform company capabilities and services into an integrated, industry- and client-focused suite of offerings and solutions.

Gajen previously served as senior vice president and general manager of Cognizant’s Information, Media and Entertainment; Manufacturing Logistics; Consumer Goods; and Communications industry practices.  Before joining Cognizant, he co-founded NerveWire, Inc., a venture capital-backed management consulting and systems integration firm, which was later acquired by Wipro.

As the CEO of Hitachi Digital Services, Roger is responsible for designing and executing the organization’s strategy, driving profitable growth, managing client relationships, and building high performance teams.

Roger has a strong track record of market development, profit and loss management, global sales management, and mergers and acquisition success.

Before he joined Hitachi, Roger was Cognizant’s global market head for Digital Operations, and grew it into a multibillion-dollar business. Before that, he held numerous leadership and market development roles, including running Cognizant’s Media and Entertainment industry business.

Prior to Cognizant, Roger worked for several niche consultancies, including NerveWire – a internet services firm operating out of Boston.

Roger is a cum-laude graduate of Brandeis University with degrees in computer science and history.
