A member of the Hitachi Digital Services Advisory Council, Sunir Kapoor is a technologist and entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience across Europe and the United States. He is currently a partner at Atlantic Bridge Capital, a transatlantic venture capital firm in Silicon Valley with more than $1.2 billion in assets under management.
Sunir has been an advisor and board member to industry-defining companies, including Vectra and Stratio. Most recently, he spent six years as an independent director for BBVA, where he founded and served on the company’s Technology and Cybersecurity Committee and remains an advisor to the bank. He has also led investments in breakthrough innovators such as Devo, LatticeFlow, and Aizon.ai, helping them to develop and disrupt legacy markets.
Sunir previously served as the CEO of UBmatrix, the creator of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), now the standard for business information exchange revolutionizing the regulatory reporting of financial information and risk globally. He also co-founded Cassatt, an early cloud computing pioneer that fueled the emergence of SaaS and was acquired by Computer Associates. Sunir also served as co-founder and CEO of E-Stamp and is credited with inventing the market and technology for Internet postage and payment, leading E-Stamp Corporation to a successful IPO.
Sunir holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Birmingham and a master’s degree in computer science from Cranfield University.
